But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marvin Portillo couldn't finish the play. If Manuel Alvarez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Jairo Cortez came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Burnham on Crouch fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jairo Cortez couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Barreto in the 36th minute of play forced Leyland City's goalkeeper Primitivo Rivas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Avilio Villarreal reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Primitivo Rivas. The goal made the score 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manuel Alvarez was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes, Danilo Ruiz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Burnham on Crouch and the Leyland City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Danilo Ruiz kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Primitivo Rivas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Barreto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th minute Leopoldo Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Primitivo Rivas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Burnham on Crouch booed when Leyland City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jhalmar Rivero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jairo Cortez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Primitivo Rivas having to interfere. Manuel Alvarez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marvin Portillo hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Leopoldo Barreto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Primitivo Rivas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 98th minute of play.
