Selvin Nunes's late challenge caught a Thurnscoe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Selvin Nunes helped the player get up and apologised. Selvin Nunes hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. If Gilberto Portillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 13th minute, Alvaro Alvarado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Danilo Cruz fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carterton's protests and gave Danilo Cruz a yellow card for diving instead. Gilberto Portillo struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Rony Barraza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thurnscoe. Cesar Calderon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Odir Botello in the 40th minute. Odir Ocampo hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Edgardo Braun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cesar Calderon having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Alvaro Alvarado made the kick off in the second half. Gilberto Portillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Rony Barraza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enrique Galeas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Odir Botello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th minute Alvaro Alvarado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesar Calderon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute, Alvaro Alvarado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Carterton getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Edgardo Braun hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Enrique Galeas in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rony Barraza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 68th minute, Alvaro Alvarado left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Carterton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. The supporters of Thurnscoe booed when Carterton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustin Rivera didn't get a good kick on the ball. Enrique Galeas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Rony Barraza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Thurnscoe's Misael Aguirrez got a free kick in the 81st minute. When Odir Botello came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Carterton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Odir Botello couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Gilberto Portillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thurnscoe's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilberto Portillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rony Barraza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Odir Botello struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Cesar Calderon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carterton. For all the effort they put into the match, the Thurnscoe players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Carterton.
