Esteve Jorrin placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! 11 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Alvaro Libertad came free, but Jairo Baumer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelino Pirro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 19th minute, Desiderio Bikendi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alejandro Enol's late challenge caught a Yatai's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alejandro Enol helped the player get up and apologised. Jairo Baumer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Chan in the 25th minute of play. Alvaro Libertad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo Baumer having to interfere. In the 35th minute Marcelino Pirro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rosendo Shepherd saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudio Chan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo Baumer having to interfere. Rosendo Shepherd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelino Pirro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 44 minutes, Alfonso Erruki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Yatai and the Palermo players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Yatai getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Alfonso Erruki hit a great ball. In the 47th minute of the match Palermo got a corner. Yatai's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adrian Fix ran over to the corner to take the kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudio Chan to make the kick off. If Marcelino Pirro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Alvaro Libertad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Melquiades Harkaitz kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Marcelino Pirro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Palermo fans cheered their team off the field, for while Yatai had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
