Escalchi AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Merlo FC the free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Augusto Rudolfo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merlo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Augusto Rudolfo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hernan Goizeder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hilario Paio in the 15th minute of play forced Escalchi AFC's goalkeeper Hernan Goizeder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristobal Franco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anacleto Oihenarte in the 19th minute of play. Escalchi AFC's Anacleto Oihenarte got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Merlo FC's goalkeeper Cristobal Franco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anacleto Oihenarte. When Abel Sedeni was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 25 minutes had been played. After 26 played minutes Escalchi AFC got a freekick which was hit by Abel Sedeni. Hilario Paio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Hernan Goizeder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hilario Paio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 40 minutes, Augusto Rudolfo made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Escalchi AFC's Hernan Goizeder tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Agustin Pacifico kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Augusto Rudolfo to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hilario Paio got free with Hernan Goizeder in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Herminio Nisio hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Hernan Goizeder was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Mauricio Salvator. The supporters of Merlo FC booed when Escalchi AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Severino Cheche didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th match minute, Escalchi AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Herminio Nisio to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, Merlo FC's Mauricio Salvator broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. A collision led to Escalchi AFC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Herminio Nisio hit a great ball. Augusto Rudolfo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hernan Goizeder having to interfere. Cristobal Franco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anacleto Oihenarte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hernan Goizeder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Rudolfo, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Anacleto Oihenarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Cristobal Franco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Hilario Paio could shoot a difficult shot in the 85th minute, which Hernan Goizeder however easily saved by the left post. 87 minutes into the match, Hilario Paio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hernan Goizeder. Escalchi AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hilario Paio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Anacleto Oihenarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the match, Anacleto Oihenarte notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Merlo FC's Cristobal Franco. Cristobal Franco was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Escalchi AFC had won after a very even match.
