Delmar Ado charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Delmar Ado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Unión booed when Rincón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Delmar Ado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Rincón's zone, Jose Lando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gabriel Elizardo came out of the goal and Jose Lando tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th minute, Sergio Vidal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guaberto Firme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amancio Seme in the 21st minute of play. Guaberto Firme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amancio Seme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jose Lando received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Gabriel Elizardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, Rincón's goal looked a bit too open when Severiano Harri came free, but Gabriel Elizardo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jose Lando might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gabriel Elizardo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jose Lando ran back to his position shaking his head. Severiano Harri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 46 minutes into the game, Freddy Eliazar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rincón's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Unión the free kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Amancio Seme to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amancio Seme in the 55th minute of play forced Unión's goalkeeper Guaberto Firme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guaberto Firme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amancio Seme in the 57th minute of play. Gabriel Elizardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jose Lando in the 59th minute of play. Gabriel Elizardo was a little too slow when Jose Lando got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 63rd minute. The score was now 0-1. Anselmo Osoro's late challenge caught a Unión's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anselmo Osoro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th minute, Anselmo Osoro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gabriel Elizardo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Severiano Harri in the 70th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Severiano Harri got free with Gabriel Elizardo in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Sergio Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guaberto Firme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amancio Seme in the 76th minute of the match. Amancio Seme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Unión's Guaberto Firme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Vidal in the 86th minute of play. When Maximino Mancio fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Unión's protests and gave Maximino Mancio a yellow card for diving instead. Maximo Isidor charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Guaberto Firme dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
