Cayetano Cordarryl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonatan Martxel, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. A collision led to Cieneguilla getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Gilberto Beltza hit a great ball. Jeremias Piarres blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cayetano Cordarryl having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Cieneguilla's zone, Jeremias Piarres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cayetano Cordarryl came out of the goal and Jeremias Piarres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremias Piarres in the 29th minute of play forced Cieneguilla's goalkeeper Cayetano Cordarryl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cieneguilla's Julian Martxel got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jeremias Piarres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in Quilino fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lino Garin was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeremias Piarres got free with Cayetano Cordarryl in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonatan Martxel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jeremias Piarres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quilino's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
