The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benítez's Salvador Poncio got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnaldo Hodei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermengildo Videl having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Blas Millan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hernan Oxel came free with the goalkeeper in the 19th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gaspar Osorio could save by the left post. Benítez's Gaspar Osorio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Benítez from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Benítez's zone, Arturo Udalaitz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaspar Osorio came out of the goal and Arturo Udalaitz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 24 minutes into the match, Benítez's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Udalaitz came free, but Gaspar Osorio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnaldo Hodei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hermengildo Videl came out of the goal and Salvador Poncio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benítez were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Ayajasco FC to leave the ground with a draw.
