To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Luis Iratzeder came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Luján fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Iratzeder couldn't finish the play. Cleto Jaunzuria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ambrosio Urtsin in the 17th minute of the match. Leonardo Udalaitz might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cosme Sauveur. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leonardo Udalaitz ran back to his position shaking his head. Cosme Sauveur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonardo Udalaitz in the 22nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Luján's Ambrosio Urtsin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cleto Jaunzuria. That made the score 1-0 after 28 minutes of play. Cleto Jaunzuria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Virgilio Firman in the 36th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
