The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Geronimo Sotero during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes Red Bull FC got a freekick which was hit by Geronimo Sotero. Aquilino Buinton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albino Urre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the match, Christian Gartzea notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Red Bull FC's Leopoldo Quexal. Leopoldo Quexal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 17th match minute, Red Bull FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albino Urre to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Carlos Fernando Vergílio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Leopoldo Quexal. That made the score 3-0 in the 18 minute of play. Albino Urre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Aquilino Buinton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albino Urre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Los Pinks DG de Tijuana's Carlos Fernando Vergílio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Leopoldo Quexal. That made the score 4-0 after 31 minutes of play. Red Bull FC's Leopoldo Quexal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Fernando Vergílio in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Los Pinks DG de Tijuana's Christian Gartzea ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Leopoldo Quexal. Leopoldo Quexal yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-0. Leopoldo Quexal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Christian Gartzea in the 47th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

The wind increased when Christian Gartzea made the kick off in the second half. Los Pinks DG de Tijuana were awarded a corner in the 52th minute after Red Bull FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Faustino Admon took the corner. Fabian Berbiz tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Leopoldo Quexal. An unnecessary self made goal, 6-0 in the 53rd minute. If Carlos Fernando Vergílio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Los Pinks DG de Tijuana's Christian Gartzea in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Red Bull FC's goalie prevented a goal. 66 minutes into the game, Carlos Fernando Vergílio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Leopoldo Quexal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carlos Fernando Vergílio might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leopoldo Quexal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Fernando Vergílio ran back to his position shaking his head. Christian Gartzea might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leopoldo Quexal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Christian Gartzea ran back to his position shaking his head. Leopoldo Quexal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benicio Mattin in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute, one of Red Bull FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Red Bull FC. The referee gave Los Pinks DG de Tijuana a penalty, 75 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Faustino Admon, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Red Bull FC's Leopoldo Quexal. 8-0. Carlos Fernando Vergílio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Quexal having to interfere. Carlos Fernando Vergílio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Los Pinks DG de Tijuana's Segundo Gonsalve got a free kick in the 95th minute. Los Pinks DG de Tijuana's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
