The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Rolando Savion shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Peruanton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amancio Emeterio made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Guaberto Lohitzun sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Melchor Ekaitz in the 12th minute of play forced Abbott's goalkeeper David Peruanton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Rolando Savion had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Melchor Ekaitz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sunderland AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Melchor Ekaitz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Peruanton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Damian Haritz hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Amancio Emeterio didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 22nd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Silvio Feliu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Amancio Emeterio. That made the score 2-0 in the 26 minute of play. Sunderland AFC's Amancio Emeterio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guaberto Lohitzun in the 61st minute of play. Silvio Feliu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Amancio Emeterio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Silvio Feliu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amancio Emeterio was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Guaberto Lohitzun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Rolando Savion might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Peruanton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rolando Savion ran back to his position shaking his head. Bartolo Benat hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. After a good free kick, Silvio Feliu got an opportunity to smash the ball into the goal, but unfortunately, the ball went just outside the goal, which resulted in a goal kick for Sunderland AFC. After 89 played minutes, Abbott's Cirilo Rocio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Amancio Emeterio came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Abbott reached it. Rolando Savion sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Abbott support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
