Smith's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladimiro Beltxe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Luis Mercurio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 29 minutes into the match, Smith's Vladimiro Beltxe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Horacio Jobo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Ignacio Loren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horacio Jobo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimiro Beltxe, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Horacio Jobo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo Platon in the 66th minute of play forced Smith's goalkeeper Albino Berenguer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vladimiro Beltxe's late challenge caught a Zubillaga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vladimiro Beltxe helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 played minutes Smith got a freekick which was hit by Vladimiro Beltxe. Albino Berenguer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ignacio Loren in the 74th minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Ignacio Loren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Zubillaga booed when Smith was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cesar Salvatore didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 81 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Ignacio Loren sped through Smith's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Albino Berenguer. Albino Berenguer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ignacio Loren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Gogo Johans came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Smith fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gogo Johans couldn't finish the play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Zubillaga walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
