CHIVAS's Cornelio Ur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Iyan in the 22nd minute of play. When Godofredo Peio came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the CHIVAS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Godofredo Peio couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Bazan AFC's Efrain Egun got a free kick in the 34th minute. Godofredo Peio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Jaime Ferrer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 37th minute of the match, Hector Abeitia tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jaime Ferrer saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 37 minutes into the game, Ricardo Fraco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bazan AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CHIVAS the free kick. 39 minutes into the match, Bazan AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Abeitia came free, but Jaime Ferrer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bazan AFC's Jaime Ferrer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Bazan AFC from getting a goal against them. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hector Abeitia made a kick off. Hector Abeitia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind CHIVAS's goalkeeper Cornelio Ur, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 57th minute Hector Abeitia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Ferrer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the CHIVAS defense, Leopoldo Tonio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cornelio Ur. The CHIVAS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cornelio Ur should have stopped the shot. 65 minutes into the match, Rodrigo Iyan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Cornelio Ur, 0-2. Jaime Ferrer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector Abeitia, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Bazan AFC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
