But to his dismay, Gilberto Mikelats quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 14 played minutes Monteverde FC got a freekick which was hit by Modesto Lleir. Miguel Bitxintxo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Guido Arias who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 55thth minute tested the skills of Fabian Berenguer when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Monteverde FC booed when Caroya AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Caroya AFC's zone, Gilberto Mikelats stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabian Berenguer came out of the goal and Gilberto Mikelats tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gilberto Mikelats came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Monteverde FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto Mikelats couldn't finish the play. Monteverde FC's Filomeno Oinaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Bitxintxo in the 71st minute of play. Jairo Cordeiro hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Guido Arias kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fabian Berenguer. That made the score 1-2 in the 77 minute of play. Gilberto Mikelats sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Clodoveo Perutxo fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Monteverde FC's protests and gave Clodoveo Perutxo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Monteverde FC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Clodoveo Perutxo hit a great ball. In the 88th match minute, Monteverde FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Feliberto Vitin to maneuver through the defense.
