Rosa's Armando Demario proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Rosa from getting a goal against them. When Rodrigo Raulo fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rio Grande Football Club's protests and gave Rodrigo Raulo a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Rosa's Danilo Papo got a free kick in the 10th minute. Ruben Balesio scored 0-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Herminio Chorache, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Rio Grande Football Club's Ignacio Bento got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Rio Grande Football Club's Samuel McLiam slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Armando Demario. That made the score 1-1 after 19 minutes of play. Cayetano Xabat charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cayetano Xabat the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Rosa booed when Rio Grande Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cayetano Xabat didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Rosa's Modesto Gomez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Herminio Chorache made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Samuel McLiam came free with the goalkeeper in the 30th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Armando Demario could save by the left post. Cayetano Xabat sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 35 minutes, Samuel McLiam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rio Grande Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Samuel McLiam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Samuel McLiam charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Samuel McLiam the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 37 played minutes Rio Grande Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Samuel McLiam. Samuel McLiam came free with the goalkeeper in the 43rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Armando Demario could save by the left post. After the first half Rosa were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Samuel McLiam made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Cayetano Xabat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Demario saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 54th minute Moises Garci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herminio Chorache saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Samuel McLiam came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Rio Grande Football Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuel McLiam couldn't finish the play. Ignacio Florinio hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Samuel McLiam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Demario having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Cayetano Xabat had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Armando Demario. Rosa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cayetano Xabat was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Constantino Gorbea's late challenge caught a Rosa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Constantino Gorbea helped the player get up and apologised. Rio Grande Football Club's Herminio Chorache proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Rio Grande Football Club from getting a goal against them.
