Real Madrid's Edgard Henry played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Abeijon in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of Lafontaine booed when Real Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fermin Cuarto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 14 minutes, Eduardo Nabar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Madrid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eduardo Nabar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edgard Henry took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Placido Berto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Fermin Cuarto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fermin Cuarto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Herminio Laurin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 21 minutes, Cosme Hever managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lafontaine's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cosme Hever was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Real Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Cosme Hever came free, but Edgard Henry reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bonifacio Umbruso hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Edgard Henry took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermengildo Abeijon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee ignored Lafontaine's protests and gave Placido Berto a yellow card for diving instead. In the 38th minute, Hermengildo Abeijon made a precise shot to the right of Edgard Henry. Real Madrid's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Edgard Henry made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herminio Ramond in the 42nd minute of play. Edgard Henry showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermengildo Abeijon, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 46th minute Hermengildo Abeijon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard Henry saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The referee ignored Lafontaine's protests and gave Hermengildo Abeijon a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Lafontaine getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Hermengildo Abeijon hit a great ball. Tomás Enekoitz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edgard Henry took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermengildo Abeijon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eduardo Nabar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herminio Laurin having to interfere. In the 61st minute, Eduardo Nabar made a precise shot to the right of Herminio Laurin. Lafontaine's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After 64 minutes of play Lafontaine's Hermengildo Abeijon was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 64th minute, Hermengildo Abeijon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lafontaine's goalkeeper Herminio Laurin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Real Madrid's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Venancio Hernandez in the 72nd minute. Real Madrid were awarded a corner in the 73th minute after Lafontaine's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Venancio Hernandez took the corner. Leonardo Argenis kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Lafontaine's Herminio Laurin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Venancio Hernandez in the 75th minute of play. Edgard Henry showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cosme Hever in the 78th minute of the match. If Eduardo Nabar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Urbano Arnas hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Edgard Henry made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Placido Berto in the 85th minute of play. Real Madrid's Edgard Henry proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Real Madrid from getting a goal against them. When Urbano Arnas came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Real Madrid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Urbano Arnas couldn't finish the play. Edgard Henry made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Cosme Hever sent off a good shot on target. Claudio Cai hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
