Cortaderas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Villanueva the free kick. A collision led to Cortaderas getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Jonas Dino hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Francisco Dino during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 20 played minutes Villanueva got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Dino. Ladislao Gartxot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicanor Haitz having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Fausto Frances managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cortaderas's supporters rose to their feet, but Fausto Frances was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicanor Haitz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 29th match minute, Villanueva was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Peio to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ladislao Gartxot in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicanor Haitz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tobias Harkaitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Lucio Casado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute Fausto Frances shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicanor Haitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Fausto Frances had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ladislao Gartxot in the 48th minute of play forced Villanueva's goalkeeper Nicanor Haitz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After 56 minutes, Flavio Criston mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cortaderas and the Villanueva players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nicanor Haitz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cortaderas. Tobias Harkaitz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ladislao Gartxot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicanor Haitz having to interfere. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cortaderas's goalkeeper Lucio Casado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
