With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angel Joseph prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gogo Socorro hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Angel Joseph took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eustaquio Eneto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Esteve Paskal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zacarias Cordero was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Filomeno Txatxu hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After 22 played minutes Palermo got a freekick which was hit by Teofilo Xacintu. Zacarias Cordero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octavio Sazon in the 26th minute of play. Lucas Oxel might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Angel Joseph. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lucas Oxel ran back to his position shaking his head. Esteve Paskal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Zacarias Cordero made a huge save. When Esteve Paskal came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the CHIVAS1023 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Esteve Paskal couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Palermo's Teofilo Xacintu got a free kick in the 35th minute. Gabriel Manilan, 36 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 42nd match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dalmacio Mazuste to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Octavio Sazon made the kick off in the second half. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Palermo. In the 61st minute there was a penalty for CHIVAS1023. Gabriel Manilan stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Zacarias Cordero. 2-0. Palermo's Zacarias Cordero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Esteve Paskal in the 65th minute of play. Zacarias Cordero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Esteve Paskal in the 70th minute of the match. When Claudio Garikoitz fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palermo's protests and gave Claudio Garikoitz a yellow card for diving instead. After 74 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Palermo! During the 81st minute of the match Teofilo Xacintu completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Teofilo Xacintu a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eustaquio Eneto got free with Angel Joseph in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 91st match minute, CHIVAS1023 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Manilan to maneuver through the defense.
