After 12 played minutes América got a freekick which was hit by Ariel Arnau. Bonifacio Cordearo might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicolas Dolfo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bonifacio Cordearo ran back to his position shaking his head. Arnaldo Gau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Dolfo having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnaldo Gau got free with Nicolas Dolfo in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 24 minutes, Ambrosio Bertin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. América's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ambrosio Bertin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Bonifacio Cordearo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicolas Dolfo made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Arnaldo Gau sent off a good shot on target. 33 minutes into the match, América's goal looked a bit too open when Bonifacio Cordearo came free, but Nicolas Dolfo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnaldo Gau struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Nicolas Dolfo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barraquero. After a rather tough play, América's Genaro Romo got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute Bonifacio Cordearo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicolas Dolfo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. América were furious when Faustino Osmundo was red carded, 45 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 45 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for América! When the match had been going on for 48 minutes, Barraquero's Aquilino Nalo got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Nicolas Dolfo.

After 60 minutes, Ariel Arnau mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the América and the Barraquero players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 60th match minute, América was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ariel Arnau to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in América's zone, Bonifacio Cordearo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolas Dolfo came out of the goal and Bonifacio Cordearo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicolas Dolfo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bonifacio Cordearo in the 63rd minute of play. Nicolas Dolfo came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Barraquero's Bonifacio Cordearo. But to his dismay, Bonifacio Cordearo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After a defensive mix-up in América's zone, Bonifacio Cordearo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolas Dolfo came out of the goal and Bonifacio Cordearo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. América's Nicolas Dolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Gau in the 80th minute of play. Nicolas Dolfo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Gau in the 84th minute of play. Bonifacio Cordearo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Dolfo having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Bonifacio Cordearo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nicolas Dolfo was relentless in the 98th minute of the game.
