Evaristo Larra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Baumer in the 6th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Capillas's goalkeeper Marciano Tebaldo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgardo Edwardo. After having played for 16 minutes, Hugo Baumer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Capillas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hugo Baumer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marciano Tebaldo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos Ciano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Varela's Marcos Ciano got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Ruben Sengrat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 38 in the game by Ruben Sengrat from a close distance when the talented Marciano Tebaldo managed to make a qualified save. Capillas's players were relieved. Hugo Baumer scored 1-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Evaristo Larra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 47th minute of the match Godofredo Nel shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Evaristo Larra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Marcos Ciano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Capillas's zone, Marcos Ciano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marciano Tebaldo came out of the goal and Marcos Ciano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marciano Tebaldo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcos Ciano's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Marciano Tebaldo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ruben Sengrat's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. 65 minutes into the game, Anibal Martxel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Capillas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varela the free kick. In the 65th match minute, Capillas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anibal Martxel to maneuver through the defense. Hugo Baumer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ruben Sengrat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Marciano Tebaldo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marciano Tebaldo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcos Ciano's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Baumer got free with Evaristo Larra in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Varela's Evaristo Larra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jesus Fonso in the 80th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Marcos Ciano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varela's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcos Ciano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marciano Tebaldo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Capillas defense, Marcos Ciano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marciano Tebaldo. The Capillas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marciano Tebaldo should have stopped the shot. Varela's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
