Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gustavo Lorenz kicked off to start the match. If Ruben Sengrat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Varela's Marcos Ciano in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Esteros's goalie prevented a goal. Marcos Ciano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 24 minutes, Marcos Rafel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esteros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcos Rafel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Evaristo Larra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Lorenz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lisandro Isaio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruben Sengrat in the 32nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcos Rafel got free with Evaristo Larra in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Esteros booed when Varela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Melchor Ixidor didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcos Ciano to strike the kick off in the second half. Melchor Ixidor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Santos Udalaitz lost his temper 56 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 55th minute, one of Varela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Varela. Ruben Sengrat could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Lisandro Isaio made a huge save. Evaristo Larra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Lorenz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustavo Lorenz was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Ruben Sengrat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lisandro Isaio having to interfere. In the 76th minute, Ruben Sengrat got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dalmacio Milio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Evaristo Larra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Melchor Ixidor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Lisandro Isaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Esteros getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Andres Lorenz hit a great ball. Gustavo Lorenz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Evaristo Larra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Lorenz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Many of Varela's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Varela may have spent more time on the ball, but Esteros were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
