Jose Veto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luis Astigar's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. In the 5th minute, Luciano Elodio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aquilino Alonso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Manuel Herauso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the match, Marengo FC's Aquilino Alonso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jose Veto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luis Astigar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romeo Etxepare fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernabe Natal having to interfere. Luis Astigar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jose Veto having to make a save. Bernabe Natal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ariel Tono, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 28 minutes, Romeo Etxepare managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Malvinas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Romeo Etxepare was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luis Astigar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jose Veto having to make a save. After 32 minutes, Omar Paz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malvinas and the Marengo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Omar Paz kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. In the 35th minute, Luis Astigar made a precise shot to the right of Jose Veto. Malvinas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 38th minute Aquilino Alonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jose Veto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Malvinas booed when Marengo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Venancio Inge didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Romeo Etxepare took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Bernabe Natal to make any attempt to save it. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luis Astigar to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Romeo Etxepare's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bernabe Natal was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Romeo Etxepare struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Bernabe Natal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Malvinas. When Romeo Etxepare came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Malvinas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeo Etxepare couldn't finish the play. If Romeo Etxepare had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Astigar did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-2 to the left of a surprised Jose Veto 70 minutes into the match. Aquilino Alonso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luis Astigar in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jose Veto saved Malvinas from getting behind. Romeo Etxepare might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bernabe Natal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Romeo Etxepare ran back to his position shaking his head. The Marengo FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
