Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) López's Faustino Barea started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Marcos Conrao sped through López's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Arnulfo Truylos. If Marcos Conrao had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute, Marcos Conrao made a precise shot to the right of Arnulfo Truylos. López's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After having played for 17 minutes, Orlando Ishmael managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orlando Ishmael was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 27th minute Marcos Conrao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnulfo Truylos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st match minute, Palo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Constantino Bortzaioriz to maneuver through the defense. After 35 minutes of play, Palo's Orlando Ishmael made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arnulfo Truylos was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, López's Braulio Alonso got a free kick in the 38th minute. Honorato Mendebal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Faustino Barea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Faustino Barea took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Honorato Mendebal. Honorato Mendebal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Arnulfo Truylos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos Conrao, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to López getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Carmelo Mingo hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Palo's Raimundo Eneas tried to score from far away in the 48th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcos Conrao to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Marcos Conrao recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Arnulfo Truylos. Marcos Conrao showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herminio Bitxintxo in the 57th minute of play forced Palo's goalkeeper Honorato Mendebal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 60 minutes, Orlando Ishmael managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Orlando Ishmael was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Faustino Barea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Honorato Mendebal having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Herminio Bitxintxo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Honorato Mendebal was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Herminio Bitxintxo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Honorato Mendebal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Palo's Honorato Mendebal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herminio Bitxintxo in the 71st minute of play. The supporters of López booed when Palo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Ishmael didn't get a good kick on the ball. Orlando Ishmael received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Arnulfo Truylos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 86 played minutes Palo got a freekick which was hit by Constantino Bortzaioriz. After 87 played minutes, López's Dionisio Frasco shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Honorato Mendebal came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in López reached it. 90 minutes into the match, López's Carmelo Mingo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Honorato Mendebal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 93rd play minute Orlando Ishmael came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Arnulfo Truylos. 3-5. The Palo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Palo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
