The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Popoy's Domingos Benvide nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eduardo Birila made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Amador Cristos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Popoy's goalkeeper Aureliano Jenaro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 15th match minute, Popoy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amadeo Saturnin to maneuver through the defense. Amador Cristos kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Rosendo Efren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domingos Benvide in the 24th minute of play forced Navia's goalkeeper Eduardo Birila to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Domingos Benvide ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eduardo Birila was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Amadeo Saturnin charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amadeo Saturnin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 31 played minutes Popoy got a freekick which was hit by Amadeo Saturnin. Eduardo Birila came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Popoy's Amadeo Saturnin. But to his dismay, Amadeo Saturnin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Rosendo Efren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Popoy's supporters rose to their feet, but Rosendo Efren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eduardo Birila breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Popoy were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Camilo Peruanton to strike the kick off in the second half. Popoy's Aureliano Jenaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amador Cristos in the 56th minute of play. The supporters of Navia booed when Popoy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guaberto Buinton didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amador Cristos in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aureliano Jenaro saved Popoy from getting behind. The supporters of Navia booed when Popoy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guaberto Buinton didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Navia's Eduardo Birila got control of the ball when Guaberto Buinton tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 65th minute Domingos Benvide shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Birila saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Rosendo Efren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eduardo Birila made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rosendo Efren in the 70th minute. Navia's Eduardo Birila proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Navia from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serafin Lopez in the 78th minute of play forced Popoy's goalkeeper Aureliano Jenaro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Navia booed when Popoy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeo Saturnin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Popoy's Aureliano Jenaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camilo Peruanton in the 84th minute of play. Rosendo Efren in the 86thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Eduardo Birila, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Camilo Peruanton in the 92nd minute of play forced Popoy's goalkeeper Aureliano Jenaro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Navia's Serafin Lopez got a free kick in the 97th minute. When the match was over Popoy could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Navia throughout the match.
