Jacobo Artizar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Jonatan Menendo put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Benedicto Jax. Alfredo Galtero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Artizar having to interfere. After 40 minutes, Victor Raebert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Esther AFC and the Ascasubi FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, Ascasubi FC's Eulalio Nofre tried to score from far away in the 41st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Victor Raebert hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Jonatan Menendo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Benedicto Jax tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ascasubi FC's Gerardo Txomin got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Benedicto Jax made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonatan Menendo in the 62nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ernesto Gutierrez during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 63 played minutes Esther AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Gutierrez. Jacobo Artizar made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Tobias Gartzen sent off a good shot on target. If Gerardo Txomin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benedicto Jax stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonatan Menendo's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Esther AFC's Benedicto Jax played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonatan Menendo in the 72nd minute of play. When Ascasubi FC's Jonatan Menendo in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The referee ignored Ascasubi FC's protests and gave Jonatan Menendo a yellow card for diving instead.
