The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ariel Benvido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basilio Austin in the 4th minute of play. When Capayán's Godfredo Petri in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Animán's goalie prevented a goal. If Godfredo Petri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Godfredo Petri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabian Celino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Fabian Celino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Neto in the 19th minute of play. Godfredo Petri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabian Celino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Godfredo Petri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabian Celino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Godfredo Petri, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Basilio Austin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Ariel Benvido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 35 played minutes Capayán got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Afonso. Basilio Austin did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Ariel Benvido 37 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute Godfredo Petri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabian Celino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, Norberto Luzaide hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Fabian Celino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Neto in the 57th minute of play. In the 58th match minute, Animán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Qwinton to maneuver through the defense. Capayán's Godfredo Petri got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fabian Celino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Godfredo Petri in the 67th minute. Ariel Benvido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basilio Austin, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Godfredo Petri came free with the goalkeeper in the 74th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Fabian Celino could save by the left post. An unexpected shot in the 83rd minute by Godfredo Petri got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Capayán booed when Animán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Qwinton didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Capayán defense, Amado Txanton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ariel Benvido. The Capayán fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ariel Benvido should have stopped the shot. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Animán were victorious despite being under pressure from Capayán for much of the match.
