Will Díaz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giovani Bustamante, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Salvador Galeas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 23 minutes, Edgardo Umanzor mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Petworth and the Shipley United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Shipley United booed when Petworth was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgardo Umanzor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victorino Rojas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Salvador Galeas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Will Díaz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Giovani Bustamante went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Petworth's Emiliano Pérez managed to work through Shipley United's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Emiliano Pérez dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. After a rather tough play, Shipley United's Mario Rey got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 38th minute Eraldo Ruiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Will Díaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 42 minutes, Fidel Cetino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Petworth's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fidel Cetino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Manuel Henriquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Salvador Galeas was the one to do the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 83rd minute by Giovani Bustamante got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Petworth were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after Shipley United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eraldo Ruiz took the corner. Lorenzo Costas made a great header on Petworth's corner, it was just that Shipley United's Will Díaz managed to reach the ball for a save. 87 minutes into the game, Lorenzo Costas lined in a short shot 1-3 behind a frustrated Will Díaz. If Giovani Bustamante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 95th minute, Emiliano Pérez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Petworth left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Shipley United.
