Augusto Pérez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Abraham Benavides made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paolo Osorio during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Paolo Osorio hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Macclesfield's zone, Ismael Braun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberto Fornos came out of the goal and Ismael Braun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Macclesfield defense, Hugo Erazo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto Fornos. The Macclesfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto Fornos should have stopped the shot. Joselito Gallardo kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alejandro Gamero to make the kick off. Abraham Benavides showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alejandro Gamero, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. 78 minutes into the match, Macclesfield's goalkeeper Alberto Fornos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hugo Erazo. Alberto Fornos made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Hugo Erazo sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd minute, Hugo Erazo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Macclesfield getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Luis Serrano hit a great ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
