An unexpectedly hard shot by Primitivo Amaya in the 16th minute of play forced Cheddar City's goalkeeper Enrique Alfaro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Edwin Alas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th match minute, Batley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldir Baptista to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute Edwin Alas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Hidalgo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cheddar City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edwin Alas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Enrique Alfaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Navas, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guillermo Navas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 61 in the game by Edwin Alas from a close distance when the talented Christian Hidalgo managed to make a qualified save. Batley's players were relieved. 73 minutes into the match, Cheddar City's goal looked a bit too open when Guillermo Navas came free, but Enrique Alfaro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Guillermo Navas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Enrique Alfaro was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. With a little luck, Batley's Christian Hidalgo got control of the ball when Edwin Alas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Primitivo Amaya sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
