After having played for 11 minutes, Wilber Medina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Whitworth's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilber Medina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wilber Medina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Deris Guzman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th match minute, Whitworth was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jhonnatan Ramirez to maneuver through the defense. A sloppy throw-in by Alexander Garay in the 39th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Whitworth's Leopoldo Lara. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilber Medina made a kick off. Selvin Navas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 54 played minutes Whitworth got a freekick which was hit by Jhonnatan Ramirez. After a defensive mix-up in March's zone, Mauricio Anaya stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Deris Guzman came out of the goal and Mauricio Anaya tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute, Wilber Medina got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wilber Medina blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Deris Guzman having to make a save. In the 66th minute, Whitworth's Mauricio Anaya ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Deris Guzman. Deris Guzman yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. If Wilber Medina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waldir Contrera kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Waldir Contrera's late challenge caught a Whitworth's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 87th minute Wilber Medina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Deris Guzman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. March's Deris Guzman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauricio Anaya in the 94th minute of play. The March fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Whitworth were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
