Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Oscar Batres put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ismael Zaldaña. 11 minutes into the match, Peterborough City's goal looked a bit too open when Oscar Batres came free, but Ismael Zaldaña reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16th minute, Antonio Parada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfredo Orozco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Wantage FC's goalkeeper Dagoberto Molina, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Wantage FC booed when Peterborough City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dagoberto Molina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolás Posadas, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Peterborough City's Alfredo Orozco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dagoberto Molina narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dagoberto Molina didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sarbelio Díaz went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Arturo Lozano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ismael Zaldaña having to interfere. 48 minutes into the match, Peterborough City's goalkeeper Ismael Zaldaña had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arturo Lozano. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Edgardo Mayen charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgardo Mayen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Alfredo Orozco came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Peterborough City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Orozco couldn't finish the play. 56 minutes into the game, Alexander Umanzor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wantage FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peterborough City the free kick. After 56 played minutes Wantage FC got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Umanzor. Jhonnatan Cortez's late challenge caught a Peterborough City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jhonnatan Cortez helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Wantage FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Jhonnatan Cortez hit a great ball. Peterborough City's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Deris Gutierrez in the 61st minute. The corner led Peterborough City's Deris Gutierrez to fire away a dangerous shot which Dagoberto Molina despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Oscar Batres struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Ismael Zaldaña didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wantage FC. Arturo Lozano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Ismael Zaldaña tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfredo Orozcos short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Dagoberto Molina to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Wantage FC's Erick Giron got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolás Posadas in the 80th minute of play forced Wantage FC's goalkeeper Dagoberto Molina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wantage FC's Dagoberto Molina proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Wantage FC from getting a goal against them. Alfredo Orozco took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dagoberto Molina. Dagoberto Molina dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The supporters of Peterborough City booed when Wantage FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jhonnatan Cortez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ismael Zaldaña made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jhonnatan Cortez in the 95th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Peterborough City walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
