In the 44th minute, David Bran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Victorino Castillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Bran in the 47th minute of play forced Morecambe FC's goalkeeper Juan Vinosis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When Morecambe FC's Fidel Ribeiro in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Schalke 09's goalie prevented a goal. Victorino Castillo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Juan Vinosis firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Juan Alfaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
