Andrés Rosales made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Francisco Cetino sent off a good shot on target. Ovidio Posadas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franklin Olmedo in the 20th minute of play. Daniel Llorente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Mariano Morales hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the game, Franklin Olmedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Ovidio Posadas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Jaime Hernández had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Darfield FC's zone, Franklin Olmedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ovidio Posadas came out of the goal and Franklin Olmedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Jaime Hernández had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jaime Hernández sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Franklin Olmedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ovidio Posadas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. Andrés Rosales took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Hernández, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Llorente to strike the kick off in the second half.
