The supporters of South Shields United booed when Croston FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Libardo Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Padilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrés Castaneda having to interfere. Andrés Castaneda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julio Padilla in the 16th minute of the match. Pedro Bustamante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jairo Valenzuela in the 19th minute of the match. Pedro Bustamante was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jairo Valenzuela showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. After 25 minutes, Roberto Lima mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the South Shields United and the Croston FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 26th minute, Roberto Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Andrés Castaneda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Navarro in the 31st minute of the match. Patricio Murgas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Pedro Bustamante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Andrés Castaneda came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by South Shields United's Henry Navarro. But to his dismay, Henry Navarro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. South Shields United's Pedro Bustamante proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save South Shields United from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francisco Boianelli stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. South Shields United's Cristian Medrano got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Padilla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrés Castaneda having to interfere. Adolfo Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Henry Navarro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Andrés Castaneda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 73 minutes, Jairo Valenzuela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Croston FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jairo Valenzuela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 76 minutes of play, South Shields United's Julio Padilla made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 83rd minute, Francisco Boianelli made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Bustamante. South Shields United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Henry Navarro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrés Castaneda having to interfere. When Libardo Carballo came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Croston FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Libardo Carballo couldn't finish the play.
