The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Paolo Anaya fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ashburton United's protests and gave Paolo Anaya a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 minutes, Fidel Paz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hedge End and the Ashburton United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fidel Paz kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Félix Oporto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Barreto in the 14th minute of play. If Pablo Gomez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paolo Anaya kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Félix Oporto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriel Boianelli in the 26th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hector Umanzor during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ashburton United booed when Hedge End was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Umanzor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hedge End's Félix Oporto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Barreto in the 29th minute of play. Félix Oporto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Gabriel Boianelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Félix Oporto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Paolo Anaya's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Félix Oporto was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. After having played for 46 minutes, Marcelo Barreto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ashburton United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelo Barreto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gabriel Boianelli to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Ashburton United's Hugo Fuentes got a free kick in the 60th minute. 63 minutes into the match, Ashburton United's goal looked a bit too open when Pablo Gomez came free, but Cristian Barquero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pablo Gomez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Cristian Barquero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rolando Fuentes's late challenge caught a Hedge End's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fidel Paz in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cristian Barquero prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 72 minutes into the game, Ashburton United's Marcelo Barreto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Félix Oporto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Hector Umanzor hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. When Fidel Paz came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Hedge End fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fidel Paz couldn't finish the play. Félix Oporto made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Gabriel Boianelli sent off a good shot on target. Gabriel Boianelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Félix Oporto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marcelo Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
