When Patricio Posadas fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stamford Bridge's protests and gave Patricio Posadas a yellow card for diving instead. Patricio Posadas kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 6th minute, Nicolás Figueroa reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zelvin Sosa. The goal made the score 1-0. After 9 minutes, Josue Espindola made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Stamford Bridge's Alberto Costas tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Odir Carballo in the 12th minute of play forced Stamford Bridge's goalkeeper Alberto Costas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alberto Costas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Odir Carballo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcelo Sigaran might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zelvin Sosa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcelo Sigaran ran back to his position shaking his head. Alberto Costas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josue Espindola in the 25th minute of play. Zelvin Sosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolás Figueroa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Josue Espindola's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alberto Costas was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. After 30 minutes of play, Derry Hill's Josue Espindola made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alberto Costas was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 34th minute, Stamford Bridge's Patricio Posadas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zelvin Sosa. Zelvin Sosa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. Marcelo Sigaran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Stamford Bridge defense, Odir Carballo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto Costas. The Stamford Bridge fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto Costas should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ivan Murgas hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Josue Espindola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Costas having to interfere. Josue Espindola recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Josue Espindola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 68th match minute, Stamford Bridge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Lovo to maneuver through the defense. Zelvin Sosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolás Figueroa, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Nicolás Figueroa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Zelvin Sosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Odir Carballo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-4 in the 85th playminute. After having played for 92 minutes, Nicolás Figueroa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stamford Bridge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicolás Figueroa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcelo Sigaran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Zelvin Sosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
