With a little luck, Old Clipstone United's Ernesto Escobar got control of the ball when Augusto Flores tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Cristian Corpeño's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Escobar was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Antonio Salinas in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck David Salinas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of North Shields booed when Old Clipstone United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Aguilar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ruben Lima's late challenge caught a North Shields's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. North Shields's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ernesto Escobar was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Corpeño showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 36 minute of play. Antonio Salinas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Antonio Salinas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Salinas having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
