The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. St Johns Wood's Rafael Botello got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 5 played minutes St Johns Wood got a freekick which was hit by Libardo Alas. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jairo Portillo in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carmelo Batres prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ulises Ribeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Ventura in the 9th minute of the match. In the 10th match minute, Berkhamsted was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Félix Del Cid to maneuver through the defense. In the 14th minute Jairo Portillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carmelo Batres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute Ladislao Ventura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulises Ribeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Félix Del Cid kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. The supporters of St Johns Wood booed when Berkhamsted was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Félix Del Cid didn't get a good kick on the ball. St Johns Wood's Carmelo Batres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save St Johns Wood from getting a goal against them. Elias Gamero might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carmelo Batres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elias Gamero ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Rafael Botello managed to get in a good position for a shot. St Johns Wood's supporters rose to their feet, but Rafael Botello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulises Ribeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Elias Gamero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carmelo Batres having to interfere. If Jairo Portillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Berkhamsted's Ulises Ribeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafael Botello in the 40th minute of play. Jairo Portillo struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Carmelo Batres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Berkhamsted. If Elias Gamero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When Rafael Botello came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the St Johns Wood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafael Botello couldn't finish the play. Hugo Messias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulises Ribeiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. After 89 minutes Berkhamsted's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Milton Botello who took care of the corner kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jairo Portillo in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. In the 97th match minute, St Johns Wood was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Libardo Alas to maneuver through the defense. Alejandro Liborio, 98 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Berkhamsted walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
