Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Turrialba's Oscar Blen started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benito Gaitans short, quick shot in the 3rdth minute got Jesus Kamakiri to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Oscar Blen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Jesus Kamakiri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Turrialba booed when Cartago FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celso Echeverria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Gaitan took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jesus Kamakiri. Jesus Kamakiri dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Baltazar Colon scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Otto Rivera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Turrialba's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar Colon came free, but Otto Rivera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Gaitan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesus Kamakiri having to interfere. Benito Gaitan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 29 played minutes Turrialba got a freekick which was hit by Berny Montealegre. After 33 minutes, Minor Davila mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Turrialba and the Cartago FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 33rd match minute, Turrialba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Minor Davila to maneuver through the defense. If Baltazar Colon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Baltazar Colon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Baltazar Colon was the one to do the kick off. Heriberto Mesa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Otto Rivera having to interfere. Turrialba's Otto Rivera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baltazar Colon in the 55th minute of play. Celso Echeverria kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the game, Turrialba's Oscar Blen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jesus Kamakiri made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Oscar Blen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th minute, Guillermo Echeverri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Benito Gaitan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 81 minutes into the match, Turrialba's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar Colon came free, but Otto Rivera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 88 played minutes Turrialba got a freekick which was hit by Dennis Cespedes. Otto Rivera was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Heriberto Mesa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 89 minute of play. If Baltazar Colon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
