The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pablo Colon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fello Molina in the 5th minute of the match. After 17 played minutes San Jose AFC got a freekick which was hit by Otoniel Salas. The supporters of Coto Brus booed when San Jose AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eladio Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Carlos Echeverria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Coto Brus's Virgilio Castillo got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 30 minutes, Rolando Ulloa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. San Jose AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rolando Ulloa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, San Jose AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Echeverria came free, but Tomas Sanabria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. San Jose AFC's Fello Molina got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Rolando Ulloa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pablo Colon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fello Molina in the 44th minute of play. Eladio Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Pablo Colon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The wind increased when Fello Molina made the kick off in the second half. Coto Brus's Pablo Colon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fello Molina in the 53rd minute of play. The supporters of San Jose AFC booed when Coto Brus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santiago Alfaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th minute, Fello Molina made a precise shot to the right of Pablo Colon. Coto Brus's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Virgilio Castillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rolando Ulloa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pablo Colon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Rene Gallo kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Fello Molina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pablo Colon having to interfere. Virgilio Castillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomas Sanabria having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolando Ulloa in the 94th minute of play forced Coto Brus's goalkeeper Pablo Colon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. San Jose AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
