After 7 minutes, Otto Morales mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Burtonwood and the Arenal players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 7th minute, Otto Morales hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ignacio Peña sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 10 minutes into the game, Ignacio Peña lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Nestor Chavarria. In the 13th minute, Ignacio Peña got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 14 minutes into the game, Isidro Matamoros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Burtonwood's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Arenal the free kick. Isidro Matamoros hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 16 minutes into the game, one of Arenal:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Clodomiro Coronado shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Andres Aguilar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Burtonwood's Otto Morales got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 23rd minute, Edgar Badilla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 25 minutes in the game, Otto Morales dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Berny Matute sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Burtonwood's Otto Morales in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Arenal's goalie prevented a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Raul Arce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arenal's supporters rose to their feet, but Raul Arce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nestor Chavarria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berny Matute in the 33rd minute of play forced Arenal's goalkeeper Pablo Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute, Nicolas Burgos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute Clodomiro Coronado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pablo Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Burtonwood's Berny Matute got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pablo Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvin Acuña, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Berny Matute to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Alvin Acuña got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Burtonwood's Berny Matute got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 55 minutes, Alvin Acuña managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Burtonwood's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alvin Acuña was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 57 minutes into the match Berny Matute climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-1 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Pablo Cordoba. Berny Matute sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nestor Chavarria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ignacio Peña in the 69th minute of the match. When Berny Matute came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Burtonwood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Berny Matute couldn't finish the play. If Berny Matute had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Alvin Acuña came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Burtonwood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alvin Acuña couldn't finish the play. Pablo Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvin Acuña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bennie Acuña during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Burtonwood booed when Arenal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bennie Acuña didn't get a good kick on the ball. Burtonwood were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
