Bernardo Talamanca's late challenge caught a Liberia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardo Talamanca helped the player get up and apologised. Salvador Reyes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julio Varela's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. 16 minutes into the match, Liberia's Efren Aguilar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alvin Lopez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tulio Navarro hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Romulo Salas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alvin Lopez having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Liberia's Gerardo Sosa got a free kick in the 30th minute. Efren Aguilar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alvin Lopez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Efren Aguilar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adolfo Coto struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Salvador Reyes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cobano AFC. Chico Soto hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. Adolfo Cotos short, quick shot in the 49thth minute got Salvador Reyes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julio Varela made a kick off. Salvador Reyes came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Cobano AFC's Adolfo Coto. But to his dismay, Adolfo Coto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. With a little luck, Cobano AFC's Alvin Lopez got control of the ball when Efren Aguilar tried to sneak it across the goal line. 59 minutes into the game, Rogelio Guadamuz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cobano AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Liberia the free kick. In the 59th match minute, Cobano AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rogelio Guadamuz to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adolfo Coto in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Salvador Reyes saved Liberia from getting behind. Chico Soto hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Cobano AFC's Bernardo Talamanca got a free kick in the 72nd minute. If Romulo Salas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adolfo Coto struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. In the 85th minute, Cobano AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Efren Aguilar fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. With his leg Alvin Lopez managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when Liberia's Efren Aguilar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Cobano AFC's zone, Efren Aguilar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvin Lopez came out of the goal and Efren Aguilar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rogelio Guadamuz struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Salvador Reyes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cobano AFC. Liberia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
