Uriel Fuentes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elvis Borbon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. With a little luck, Golfito FC's Edgar Pineda got control of the ball when Kenneth Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 30th match minute, Golfito FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cid Castillo to maneuver through the defense. Humberto Sibaja might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edgar Pineda. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Humberto Sibaja ran back to his position shaking his head. If Berny Guevara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jonny Guadamuz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 41st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Elvis Borbon. Liberia's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Uriel Fuentes in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elvis Borbon saved Liberia from getting behind. Elvis Borbon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rogelio Montealegre, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rogelio Montealegre was the one to do the kick off. Uriel Fuentes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57thth minute of the game Kenneth Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Golfito FC's Edgar Pineda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 62 minutes into the game, Josue Portuguez recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Elvis Borbon. Josue Portuguez showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. 65 minutes into the game, Berny Guevara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Edgar Pineda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Berny Guevara's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edgar Pineda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Greivin Montealegre kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Liberia's Elvis Borbon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogelio Montealegre in the 80th minute of play. After 83 played minutes Golfito FC got a freekick which was hit by Josue Portuguez. When Josue Portuguez fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Golfito FC's protests and gave Josue Portuguez a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute, Josue Portuguez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elvis Rosabal kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Golfito FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Liberia.
