In the 9th match minute, Liberia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonny Matarrita to maneuver through the defense. Evaristo Echeverria's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elvis Borbon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. The corner led Uvita's Pedro Obando to fire away a dangerous shot which Elvis Borbon despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Tito Sanchez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elvis Borbon having to interfere. 20 minutes into the match, Uvita's goal looked a bit too open when Kenneth Murillo came free, but Otoniel Coronado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tito Sanchez struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Elvis Borbon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uvita. If Kenneth Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Berny Guevara's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Otoniel Coronado was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Humberto Sibaja during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Evaristo Echeverria kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Uvita's zone, Berny Guevara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Otoniel Coronado came out of the goal and Berny Guevara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Berny Guevara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Kenneth Murillo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Otoniel Coronado having to make a save. Chunche Jimenez's late challenge caught a Liberia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chunche Jimenez helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Liberia booed when Uvita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chunche Jimenez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elmer Chamberlain charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elmer Chamberlain the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 2-1 became the score in the 77th minute when Evaristo Echeverria elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 82 played minutes Uvita got a freekick which was hit by Elmer Chamberlain. Otoniel Coronado made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Kenneth Murillo sent off a good shot on target. A hard shot 86 in the game by Kenneth Murillo from a close distance when the talented Otoniel Coronado managed to make a qualified save. Uvita's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Jonny Matarrita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liberia's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonny Matarrita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Otoniel Coronado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tito Sanchez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, Uvita could leave the field as winners, despite Liberia having more of the ball for most of the match.
