Club Deportivo Municipal's Isidoro Zumel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Urbes Muñoz in the 8th minute of play. The supporters of Club Deportivo Municipal booed when Alianza Lima was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vasco Panero didn't get a good kick on the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Quilino Rotaetamorga notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Alianza Lima's Fernandez Vinyals. Fernandez Vinyals was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 22 minutes, Quilino Rotaetamorga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Deportivo Municipal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Quilino Rotaetamorga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Club Deportivo Municipal's Froylan Ozollo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 25th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Alianza Lima. In the 27th minute, Xuaco Zurica left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Deportivo Municipal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Alex Cerro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alianza Lima's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Cerro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isidoro Zumel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Club Deportivo Municipal's Isidoro Zumel got control of the ball when Alex Cerro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Quilino Rotaetamorga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Fernandez Vinyals tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Xuaco Zurica fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandez Vinyals having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Alianza Lima's Fernando Gaona got a free kick in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xuaco Zurica in the 41st minute of play forced Alianza Lima's goalkeeper Fernandez Vinyals to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernandez Vinyals showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xuaco Zurica, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Quilino Rotaetamorga made the kick off in the second half. 66 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Municipal's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Cerro came free, but Isidoro Zumel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute, Alex Cerro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Isidoro Zumel was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. After 71 played minutes Club Deportivo Municipal got a freekick which was hit by Xuaco Zurica. Isidoro Zumel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Urbes Muñoz in the 72nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Urbes Muñoz in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Isidoro Zumel saved Club Deportivo Municipal from getting behind. Isidoro Zumel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Urbes Muñoz in the 76th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Municipal's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Cerro came free, but Isidoro Zumel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Urbes Muñoz's late challenge caught a Club Deportivo Municipal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Urbes Muñoz helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Alianza Lima's Urbes Muñoz got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Quilino Rotaetamorga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urbes Muñoz in the 89th minute of play forced Club Deportivo Municipal's goalkeeper Isidoro Zumel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alianza Lima's Urbes Muñoz got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute, Urbes Muñoz made a precise shot to the right of Isidoro Zumel. Club Deportivo Municipal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Alianza Lima fans cheered their team off the field, for while Club Deportivo Municipal had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
