The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Christobal Camacho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurgain Mauleon having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christobal Camacho in the 16th minute of play forced Universitario's goalkeeper Laurgain Mauleon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laurgain Mauleon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Foro Velaz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Laurgain Mauleon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christobal Camacho in the 20th minute of play. Foro Velaz scored 1-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Laurgain Mauleon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vidal Roches's late challenge caught a Universitario's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vidal Roches helped the player get up and apologised. In the 29th match minute, Balrog was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vidal Roches to maneuver through the defense. Vidal Roches hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Balrog's zone, Imanol Laje stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tabor Pineros came out of the goal and Imanol Laje tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Laurgain Mauleon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christobal Camacho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute, Gamus Munozcano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Errolan Alaña managed to get in a good position for a shot. Balrog's supporters rose to their feet, but Errolan Alaña was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laurgain Mauleon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Imanol Laje to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Balrog booed when Universitario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cebo Zarra didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 53rd minute, Christobal Camacho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Universitario's Laurgain Mauleon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christobal Camacho in the 55th minute of play. When Foro Velaz fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Balrog's protests and gave Foro Velaz a yellow card for diving instead. Foro Velaz hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Balrog played a much better game than Universitario and deserved their victory. The Universitario players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
