Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fernado Afonso ran back to his position shaking his head. 11 minutes into the match, Cerilo Ajorbe had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ekain Severino. Pumachuco's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cerilo Ajorbe was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 21 minutes into the match, UD Maracaibo's goalkeeper Niolaao Rapado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xepe Zuñiga. Ekain Severino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xever Castiñeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernado Afonso in the 25th minute of play forced UD Maracaibo's goalkeeper Niolaao Rapado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Fernado Afonso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niolaao Rapado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Xever Castiñeira in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ekain Severino saved Pumachuco from getting behind. Niolaao Rapado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Xepe Zuñiga went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After 37 played minutes, UD Maracaibo's Beliran Videgaray shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ekain Severino came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in UD Maracaibo reached it. With a little luck, UD Maracaibo's Niolaao Rapado got control of the ball when Xepe Zuñiga tried to sneak it across the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernado Afonso was the one to do the kick off. Handi Izaga hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xepe Zuñiga in the 51st minute of play forced UD Maracaibo's goalkeeper Niolaao Rapado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute, Fernado Afonso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Fernado Afonso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Niolaao Rapado was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. 62 minutes into the match, Xepe Zuñiga notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of UD Maracaibo's Niolaao Rapado. Niolaao Rapado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Maule Lazo hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, UD Maracaibo's Jaime Lavet got a free kick in the 76th minute. After some careless play in the UD Maracaibo defense, Fernado Afonso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niolaao Rapado. The UD Maracaibo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niolaao Rapado should have stopped the shot. After 82 played minutes UD Maracaibo got a freekick which was hit by Arsenio Ocerin. In the 89th minute, Maule Lazo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 91 in the game by Xever Castiñeira from a close distance when the talented Ekain Severino managed to make a qualified save. Pumachuco's players were relieved. UD Maracaibo's Jaime Lavet got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th minute, Xever Castiñeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 95 minutes into the match, Pumachuco's goalkeeper Ekain Severino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xever Castiñeira. Pumachuco were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of UD Maracaibo for a fine match.
