The Bayes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Flavian Rivoire should have stopped the shot. Matro Perramon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santos Raiz in the 24th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillen Mijangos in the 26th minute of play forced Bayes's goalkeeper Flavian Rivoire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matro Perramon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gar Azpe in the 27th minute of play. If Vidal Cantabrana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Universitario's goal looked a bit too open when Santos Raiz came free, but Matro Perramon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matro Perramon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santos Raiz in the 38th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Bayes's Marques Paris slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Matro Perramon. That made the score 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. Bonifacio Morentin hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gar Azpe to make the kick off. With a little luck, Bayes's Flavian Rivoire got control of the ball when Joachim Arana tried to sneak it across the goal line. Flavian Rivoire made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Joachim Arana sent off a good shot on target. Bayes's Prejun Codosal was substituted for Navarro Chavarre. The supporters of Universitario booed when Bayes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gurutz Chapa didn't get a good kick on the ball.
