If Totin Mendoza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enrique Escobar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tomaso Benavides read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Mañanitas's zone, Gilberto Corral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrés Centella came out of the goal and Gilberto Corral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Martín Quirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Martín Quirós took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomaso Benavides. Tomaso Benavides dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 43 minutes into the match, Mañanitas's Martín Quirós sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomaso Benavides narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tomaso Benavides took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Escobar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Martín Quirós made the kick off in the second half. Enrique Escobar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 51stth minute tested the skills of Tomaso Benavides when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tomaso Benavides stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Martín Quirós's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. After 55 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mamitipo! After some careless play in the Mamitipo defense, Carlos Amaya kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tomaso Benavides. The Mamitipo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tomaso Benavides should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd minute, Mañanitas's Martín Quirós ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tomaso Benavides. Tomaso Benavides yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Enrique Escobar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Tomaso Benavides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mamitipo's Totin Mendoza got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Mañanitas getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Azael Vergara hit a great ball. Andrés Centella stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Totin Mendoza's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Totin Mendoza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Enrique Escobar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gilberto Corral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 93 minutes, Toto Quiros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mamitipo and the Mañanitas players grew even worse after the yellow card. With his leg Tomaso Benavides managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Mañanitas's Enrique Escobar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mañanitas walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
