After a defensive mix-up in Club Atletico Nacional's zone, Ulpiano Gómez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alejandro Morris came out of the goal and Ulpiano Gómez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 26 played minutes Club Atletico Nacional got a freekick which was hit by Josef Mellbad. After 27 played minutes, Arraiján's Hermes Osorio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alejandro Morris came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Arraiján reached it. A hard shot 30 in the game by Toto Posam from a close distance when the talented Juan De Leon managed to make a qualified save. Arraiján's players were relieved. Juan De Leon was a little too slow when Gabriel Nuñez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 31st minute. The score was now 2-0. In the 34th match minute, Arraiján was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Monchi Villalobos to maneuver through the defense. Åke Asmundsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute of the match Josef Mellbad shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juan De Leon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Gabriel Nuñez came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Club Atletico Nacional fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gabriel Nuñez couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Toto Posam made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Guillermo Spadafora made a precise shot to the right of Juan De Leon. The Club Atletico Nacional fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. 81 minutes into the match, Arraiján's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Nuñez came free, but Juan De Leon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Monchi Villalobos kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Juan De Leon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabriel Nuñez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
