In the 9th minute Giancarlo Trejos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Ortega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Azuero booed when Boquete was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giancarlo Trejos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cesar Morris's late challenge caught a Boquete's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cesar Morris helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Escalona in the 17th minute of play forced Azuero's goalkeeper Emanuel Ortega to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Escalona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rafael Calderón charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rafael Calderón the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Azuero's Rafael Calderón got a free kick in the 20th minute. During the 22nd minute of the match Cesar Morris completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Cesar Morris a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 22 played minutes Azuero got a freekick which was hit by Cesar Morris. In the 23rd minute of the match Reinaldo Tello sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emanuel Ortega skillfully saved the ball. Jorge Escobar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Beto Corral charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Beto Corral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th minute, Beto Corral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Giancarlo Trejos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boquete's supporters rose to their feet, but Giancarlo Trejos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuel Ortega breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The wind increased when Jorge Escobar made the kick off in the second half. Azuero's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when José Escalona scored to the left of an out of position Emanuel Ortega, making the score, 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Azuero's zone, José Escalona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emanuel Ortega came out of the goal and José Escalona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Orlando Peren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Escobar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Orlando Peren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Calderón in the 66th minute of the match. Giancarlo Trejos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Ortega having to interfere. Jorge Escobar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Peren having to interfere. Jorge Escobar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Orlando Peren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giancarlo Trejos got free with Emanuel Ortega in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Azuero's Emanuel Ortega played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Escalona in the 82nd minute of play. Giancarlo Trejos was extremely unlucky when he, in the 83rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, José Escalona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boquete's supporters rose to their feet, but José Escalona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuel Ortega breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Boquete eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
